WetuProperty Uganda Ltd operates the WetuProperty platform. We are responsible for your personal data as described in this policy.
For seekers: name, phone number, email (optional), credit purchase records, unlock history, and shortlisted listings. For listers: name, phone, email, organisation details, property addresses (including exact addresses that are gated from seekers until unlock), payout bank or MoMo details, and verification documents. We also collect usage data: pages visited, search queries, unlock timestamps, and in-app events.
We use your data to: operate the platform and process payments; deliver unlocked location details to seekers who purchase them; send transaction receipts, refund notifications, and OTP codes; detect fraud, false refund claims, and duplicate accounts; and improve the product. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
When a seeker unlocks a listing, the exact address, GPS coordinates, and owner contact details are revealed to that seeker only. This data is transmitted over HTTPS and is not shared with other seekers. The lister is not told which specific seeker unlocked their listing — only that an unlock occurred.
Payments are processed via MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, or a PCI-DSS-compliant card processor. We do not store full card numbers. MoMo transaction references and phone numbers are stored to allow dispute resolution.
We share data with: payment processors (to complete transactions); SMS/WhatsApp gateway providers (to deliver unlock details and OTP codes); and cloud infrastructure providers operating in the EU or Kenya under standard contractual clauses. We disclose data to law enforcement only when required by Ugandan law.
Account data is retained for the life of your account plus 3 years after closure, to satisfy audit and dispute requirements. Unlock records are retained for 5 years. You may request deletion of your account data at any time; we will delete or anonymise it within 30 days except where retention is required by law.
You have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct inaccurate data; request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements); and opt out of marketing communications. To exercise these rights, email privacy@wetuproperty.com.
We use an HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics on the main platform. The marketing site uses privacy-preserving analytics without cross-site tracking.
We will email registered users 14 days before any material change to this policy. The latest version is always at wetuproperty.com/privacy.
